Coclico

Location - 275 Mott St (between Houston & Prince)

Coclico is a beautiful open space filled with their own line of shoes, an expertly edited selection of cheerful clothes, and statement-making accessories.  The  incredibly friendly staff and amount of unique pieces stocked makes this boutique a must when shopping for everything from everyday sandals to a flirty evening dress.

The shoes are made from eco-friendly materials and are crafted for the utmost comfort without compromising style.  The Coclico Spring shoe line is inspired by the butterfly with intricate patterns and curved silhouettes.  The earthy color palette with splashes of gemstone hues can be found in the heels, sandals, and boots.  Fun summer flat sandals and heels made of high-quality leather range from $250-$450, and staple neutral boots range from $450-$600.  Mixed in with Coclico's own line are shoes from Esska, Argila, and Chi Mihara.

Just as impressive as their shoe selection is the clothing, including everything from jackets, blouses, flowy dresses, and chunky sweaters.  Clothing ranges from $75-$400.  An amazingly soft grey suede and mesh jacket from Iro is $475, a Twinkle by Wenlan dress for $350, a blue and white embroidered tunic from Paul & Joe is $175, and a versatile She Bible jersey dress is $150.

Other accessories include bright scarves from Yarnz ($175) and a large selection of leather bags from oversized totes to crossbody bags ($200-$500+) can be found from Paul & Joe Sisters and Great by Sandie.

Catbird

Location - 219 Bedford Ave (near N 5th), Williamsburg

Catbird is a quiet refuge on bustling Bedford Ave, filled with pretty, delicate, and cheeky items.  This airy space is filled to the brim with funky home goods and beautiful jewelry begging to be picked up and tried on.

Display cases house Catbird's famous collection of jewelry, boasting pieces from over 20 brands, ranging from cheeky silver rings in the shape of electric plugs to dainty 18K gold origami crane earrings. There's something for all budgets, with prices ranging from $10-$350+, and the friendly staff is happy to assist you with jewelry sizing and styling tips. Great pieces include delicate rose gold heart bracelets from Bittersweets NY ($325), oversized Spanish Galleon ring from Flotsam & Jetsam ($160), Pade Vavra's shimmering drusy studs ($176), and little thin rings from Occa are only $12. Catbird also has their own line, including stackable alphabet rings ($88) and cute New Jersey and New York state necklaces in gold or silver ($112-$185).

Catbird's selection of oddities, accessories, and home goods makes it the perfect gift-finding destination. Aromatic candles from Kobo are $34, Saipua soaps are $5-$8, and Love & Victory's his and hers decanter set is $88. Some favorite pieces include hanging glass-enclosed feather ornaments ($9-$19), Good Luck horseshoes ($8), and pom-pom scarves ($65).

Intrigue

Location - 151 Ludlow Street (between Rivington and Stanton)

Intrigue is the perfect boutique to find on-trend pieces at great prices.  Filled with unique fashion brands and colorful leather bags, you're able to find anything from casual knitwear to embellished mini-dresses.

This cozy boutique is thoughtfully laid out, allowing you to easily go through the clothing while taking in shelves of accessories and bags.  Everything from flirty silk dresses, bright tunics, romantic blouses, patterned skirts, and structured jackets can be found from brands such as Interlud, Buqet, Csilla Somogyi, Collective Concepts, Jonesy, Tulle, and Scrapbook Originals.  The clothes ranges from a low $30 to $250, with most items below $150.  Great pieces include a purple tunic with studded shoulders ($68), staple black boyfriend blazer ($94), and a vivid yellow dress with sparkling embellishments ($245).

Shelves upon shelves of accessories include scarves, wallets, gloves, jewelry, belts, and leather bags and clutches in neutrals and popping colors ($40-$400).

Darling

Location - 1 Horatio Street (at 8th Ave)

Darling is a boutique that lives up to its name, with window displays full of breezy dresses and an interior stocked to the ceiling with a mix of trendy pieces and vintage must-haves, you are sure to find something for every season. Piles of accessories fill every nook and make you feel you've stepped into a closet begging to play dress-up in. Hats, scarves and purses hang off mirrors, with colorful casual wear and trendy evening wear framing a table toppling with jewelry and accessories.

Great pieces for all body types can be found by Tulle, Luna, Autumn Cashmere, BB Dakota, Velvet, Kensie, Susanna Monaco, Max and Cleo, and Heartloom.  Dresses ranging from trendy minis to draping jersey can be found from $50-$300+ and tops from bohemian to tailored range from $30-$200.  In the winter months, they have a huge assortment of coats and jackets with everything from jewel-toned peacoats to fur-lined bombers ($70-$350).  Despite Darling's large stock of clothes, they out-do themselves with their abundance of accessories.  Scarves can be found piled and draped during all months of the year ($30-$150), as well as headbands, hats and purses, including rows of colorful clutches (around $80).  Jewelry in both gold and silver vintage and plastic trendy costume can be found hanging from decorative branches next to classic lingerie with feminine ruffles and lace.

The staff is friendly and energetic and happy to help fill any wardrobe hole.  Don't miss heading downstairs to the basement where there are more dressing rooms, a rack dedicated to vintage finds from the 1950s-1980s, as well as a full wall of sale items that are constantly updated and reduced.  Darling also hosts many events where pieces such as the Little Black Dress are celebrated with promotions and cocktails.

Thistle & Clover

Location - 221 Dekalb Ave (between Clermont Ave and Adelphi St)

Nestled in the tree-lined, bustling neighborhood of Fort Greene, this bright boutique creates a gallery environment showcasing local designers with unique one-of-a-kind designs.  The white walls and airy decor mix with vintage touches that can be found in the classic books used to display jewelry and antique furniture. Thistle & Clover hosts quarterly open calls to promote new designers and support the strong design community around them, which keeps their boutique stocked with fresh and exceptional finds.

Opening in March 2008, they have made a name for themselves with their unique jewelry collections ($50-$300+) of delicate gold and silver mixed with bold statement pieces, which include designers such as Lauren Wimmer, In God We Trust, Catbird, Max Steiner, and Sunday's Best.  Their own jewelry line recently became available, with necklaces made of rose gold in feminine pendants of clovers and flowers ($150).  Other fun accessories include everything from leather handbags and feathered barrettes, to shoes and stationery.

In addition to beautiful jewelry, the clothing is sophisticated and fun with fresh designs coming from staple brands as well as up-coming-designers.  Brands include LA Made and Wren mixed with Lewis NYC, Trovata, Twolive Tree, and Demylee.  Day dresses come in comfortable flannel and floating florals ($150-$200) whereas structured, vibrant party dresses can be found around $250-$300.  Thick sweaters and striped cardigans range from $100-$250 and jackets and coats range from $300-$500.

Loopy Mango

Location - DUMBO 117 Front Street (near Adams St)

Tucked in bustling DUMBO, Loopy Mango is stocked with fabulous eccentric pieces and luxurious, vintage-inspired designs. With a mix of old and new styles, the space is set up like a gallery so you can find not only great clothes, but beautiful vintage home goods and body soaps and lotions.

Co-owned by a crochet designer and an artist, this boutique truly meshes their worlds in a comfortable environment filled with unique pieces.  Their wide range of womenswear includes chunky sweaters, silk dresses, cotton basics, and structured blouses ($50-$400+).  Whether from Paris or Brooklyn, they strive to stock the best items in fresh styles that can easily be added to any wardrobe.  Brands include KRMA, Graham & Spencer, Line, Makie, Autumn Cashmere, Pas de Calais, Eva Franco, and Lia Kes.

The clothes aren't the only reason to stop by, you can complete your vintage-with-an-edge look with a fantastic assortment of accessories. Their unique jewelry ($30-$300) includes delicate gold and silver pieces, as well as large statement pieces. Bright hair accessories made of feathers, bows, and ribbons ($5-$50).  Stay warm with plaid, patterned, and richly textured scarves ($75-$185), as well as gloves and timeless hats.  Shoes range from canvas Bensimon's ($50-$80) to well-crafted leather boots (around $300).  They also stock a wide selection of bags with up-and-coming designers, including small clutches, slouchy hobos, and fringe styles ($100-$600).  Candles, soaps, and lotions from Tocca and Eau de Brooklyn range from $10-$40.  Sprinkled throughout are classic vintage finds including frames, lamps, and furniture that add to the entire experience.

Loopy Mango moved their collection to Brooklyn in 2006 after spending two years in the East Village.

Matta

Location - 241 Lafayette St (near Spring)

 This narrow boutique is home to bohemian, airy clothes that are intricate with handmade qualities and rich, ethnic fabrics.  Matta's locally-designed clothes and accessories can be found in various stores, however their boutique devoted to displaying the vast range of pieces is worth visiting.

Easy-to-wear dresses, tunics, skirts, and tops made of cotton, silk, and wool come in bright, bold colors ($50-$350), with most dresses and tunic around $150-$200.  Light and airy pieces have special beading details and beautifully dyed fabrics.  The cuts are simple and flattering to most bodies and have effortless movement.  The many accessories can easily punch up any outfit with their exotic influences and fun colors.  The scarves come in earth tone solids and bright ombre with fringe, tassels, and contrasting stitching ($50-$200).  Hand stitched leather sandals ($100), leather braided belts ($75), and beautiful jewelry with exotic colors, beads and colors ($20-$200+).  Matta's classic colorful braided leather metallic beaded wrap bracelets can double as belts ($96).

Some home goods can also be found, such as rugs, blankets, placemats and journals in their signature color palettes and intricate designs.

Callalilai

Location -  43 Spring Street (near Mulberry St), also located at 827 Broadway (Union Square) and 296 Atlantic Avenue (Brooklyn)

This cozy boutique is an exciting blend of comfort and bold bohemian.  Despite the large store size compared to other Nolita boutiques, Callalilai wraps you up in its charm and makes you feel you're shopping at an exclusive exotic retreat with their exotic bright patterns and handmade accessories.

Take time to enjoy going through their AOYAMA ITCHOME collection where whimsical, airy fabrics in dyes, patterns, and laces are both beautiful and easy to wear.  Dresses range from $75-$200 and come in multiple cuts and styles within similar color palettes so you can easily find the right shape in the perfect pattern.  Tops range from $40-$115 and their renowned bright-colored vintage skirts for $89 are pleated for the just-right amount of volume that sways when you walk.

Their wide array of accessories is unique and eye-catching with vintage and handmade pieces scattered throughout the store.  With international designers including some featured from Peru, Morrocco, Columbia, and Japan, the pieces are cultural and made with care.  Callalilai's famous feather earrings range from $15-$40, necklaces for $20-$200, pristine alligator cuffs $109, leather and intricately stitched fabric belts for $40-$120, and wire-cuff bracelets for $40. There is also a small selection of children's clothes ranging from $50-$75 and a good selection of sale items are 30% off.

Stella Filante

Location - 156 Ludlow Street (Between Rivington & Stanton)

A new boutique joins the Ludlow Street community and enhances a beautiful space with bohemian, eclectic clothes. Housed in an old candy factory, the vivid colors and patterns bring life to the large open space. Stella Filante, meaning "shooting star" in Italian, is the creation of two Belgian/Moroccan sisters who wanted to share their love for international fashion.

With designers from Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America, the selection is vast with their key pieces from designers Willow, Manish Arora, Antik Batik, and Zadig + Voltaire. The pieces are a little pricey, ranging from $100-$400+, but are beautifully made and make you feel like you're buying a piece from an amazing exotic vacation. Everything is brilliantly colored with vivid hues hand-dyed, fringed, embellished, beaded, and braided in different flowing fabrics.  The striking patterns and intricate beaded adornment on dresses and tops are worth checking out.  Breezy summer tunics ($235) work perfectly with their selection of swimwear ($80-$200).

They have classic leather handbags in neutral colors ranging from $150-$400, and the selection of footwear is bold and trendy with exotic touches ($100-$200).  Other accessories include hats, scarves, and clutches.  If you're looking for a rare, unique piece on more of a budget, head to the back and check out their sale with a good range of sizes in their staple patterns and colorful embellishments.

Mint Julep

Location - 173 Ludlow Street (between Houston & Stanton Street)

The brainchild of two Boston boutique lovers, Mint Julep in the Lower East Side is the third store (Manhattan's first) and truly stocks pieces for every occasion. This open, friendly boutique lets you slow down and enjoy the act of shopping.  With loads of choices and accessories, there's much to look at, and the staff is even happy to just chat with you and they offer the latest gossip magazines on their comfy couch.

Their stock is a collection of basics and trendy items from Splendid, LA Made, Three Dot, Velvet, 525 America, White + Warren, Tibi, Plenty by Tracy Reese, Free People, Kensie, and Ben Sherman.  With the amount of brands ranging from $35-$350, Mint Julep does a good job of having a wide variety, but editing to essentials to meet the needs of their clients.  They have an excellent selection of dresses and coats, especially well-fitting light jackets and casual jersey dresses.  Make sure to try on the wonderfully soft tops from Three Dot and always flirtatious designs from Kensie.

They have trendy, inexpensive jewelry ($20-$75) and accessories and bags from Orla Kiely and Ebisu.  Hats and scarves from Tolani and Moksha help top off any outfit.  They even have baskets of on-sale basic long tees and tanks.
